Laguna Beach, California

Cresent Bay

Hard to tell but a storm had just cleared after raining for days and the sun was out with no clouds (a landscape photographers' nightmare) but it gave me a chance to get out and tinker around the beach.

As a kid, my brothers and I played on these beaches and coves and the memories are delightful.  One morning my brother and I took a drive to San Juan Capistrano Beach, to a little historic residential area near the mission.  I love my trips back to California!

Driving in along Laguna Canyon Road from the I–405 freeway gives you the chance to cruise through a gorgeous coastal canyon, large stretches of which remain undeveloped, before arriving at a glistening wedge of the ocean.

Laguna’s welcome mat is legendary. On the corner of Forest and Park avenues is a gate proclaiming, "This gate hangs well and hinders none, refresh and rest, then travel on." A gay community has long been established here; art galleries dot the village streets, and there’s usually someone daubing up in Heisler Park. Along the Pacific Coast Highway, you’ll find dozens of clothing boutiques, jewelry stores, and caf├ęs.
