My Honor To Be Included

Among the many exciting things that came my way this past year was being asked by Dewitt Jones if I would like to work on a few projects with him, one being "Healing Images".

I'd already known Dewitt Jones from his column in Outdoor Photography Magazine and knew he had been a long time freelance photo-journalist for National Geographic magazine.
He also was a motion picture director who had two films nominated for academy awards before he turned 30.

Dewitt is the recipient of the Sierra Club's Ansel Adams Award for Conservation Photography which honors "superlative photography that has been used to further conservation causes".  He is also the author of nine books. What resonates with me about  Dewitt is his reverence and love of the landscapes he photographs. A respectful heartfelt man who loves to communicate through his art.

So this year, I am one of the newest members of his team and I'm immensely honored. Not only to serve in such a great cause but to be included on a team of such amazing talent.

A virtual "who's who" of professional award winning landscape photographers and authors and magazine editors. Please take the time to visit the Healing Images site and get acquainted with an amazing endeavor.

This Photo

As the new year begins, I was on the road to wrap up my Winter album and thinking about my last year.  A year amongst years, photographically euphoric and full of adventure and personal growth.
I'd summed it up with feeling incredibly grateful, full of anticipation for this new year ahead

The Road To Zion

In some esoteric teachings, Zion is referred to as a spiritual point from which reality emerges. Also a fitting narrative for the brilliant red, cream and pink towering sandstone cliffs. This road I'd taken was home to a coral sandy ground, spring-fed waterfalls, hanging gardens and the magnificent Virgin River is also known as Zion. Zion National Park in Southern, Utah.

Exploring Winter

I had almost a week on the road to catch some of the most spectacular Winter scenes and hikes I'd ever seen. I had the luxury to take my time and explore Zion and Bryce National Parks. As always, the best part of the journey is the small back roads and little towns that exude so much charm and character. I spent New Years eve in a snowy Bryce WInter wonderland.
